Marianne Chapel received her BFA in Painting from Buffalo State College and her MFA in Painting from Indiana University, where she also studied and taught in Florence, Italy. She has taught visual art and art history courses at the college level for over 30 years, most recently at Ringling College of Art and Design, while maintaining an active studio practice in painting and sculpture. Her work and community leadership have been recognized through numerous grants and awards, including a Vermont Studio Center residency grant, a Ringling College faculty grant, and SRQ Magazine’s Women Who Roar recognition. In 2020, Chapel founded SPAACES Foundation, a nonprofit contemporary visual arts organization in Sarasota dedicated to supporting professional artists through exhibitions, affordable studios, lectures, career development, and community-driven projects. She currently serves as Director of SPAACES, where she also maintains her art studio in Sarasota, Florida.

Originally from South Florida, Ashley Sniffen is an Arts Administration PhD student at Florida State University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and French & Francophone Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and a Master of Arts with Distinction in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. Sniffen has professional experience in cultural program development and curatorial initiatives in art museums, universities, and college settings, including The School of The New York Times, Sotheby's Institute of Art, The Barnes Foundation, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Norton Museum of Art. After living in London, she returned to South Florida to direct the Museum Studies Program at Miami Dade College, where she additionally taught Museum Studies and Art Appreciation courses, and later served as a Program Manager and Grants Administrator for the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. 

Johnson, Joshua

Josh Johnson is a native of Tallahassee, and comes from a 7 generation Leon County family. He has an intimate knowledge and experience of the community that is manifest in the work that he does throughout Tallahassee. Josh is the President/CEO of the 621 Gallery in Railroad Square, a 45-year-old, 4,000 square ft. contemporary art gallery, that has proudly served as a hub of community. Johnson also host “The Warehouse” on WFSU 88.9 a North Florida NPR affiliate, that is a radio show and podcast aimed at highlighting art and culture locally, statewide, and beyond on a weekly basis.

Johnson is an award-winning educator and he is the principal partner of Stephenson, Johnson, & Johnson a small local marketing LLC that helps to bring large- and small-scale art projects to the Big Bend, particularly in under-served communities. Johnson strives to make direct-community-impact the focus of all his endeavors while also reducing the barriers of engagement with art and culture. Josh can often be seen emersed in the city he loves by patronizing local restaurants, breweries, and other small businesses.

Dr. Heidi C. Powell is Associate Professor of Art Education and Director of the MA Art Education program in the School of Art and History at the University of Florida. A practicing artist and scholar, her work explores cultural continuity, Indigenous identities, memory, and the whimsical. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow, and exhibits and publishes nationally and internationally.

Daugette, Jennifer Wren

WREN is an academic museum administrator and curator. Early in her career, she worked in the digital music industry. Her scholarly interests include the role of art in peacemaking, especially through creative storytelling. She conducted research in Colombia at the Restrepo Center for Civil Reconstruction at the National University of Colombia and at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, where she was a Hubert H. Humphrey Public Leadership Scholar. Wren teaches across disciplines and has presented her work at events including the Museum Innovation Forum, the College Art Association, and the Nobel Peace Prize Forum. She serves as Gallery Director & Curator at Mattie Kelly Arts Center, Northwest Florida State College. As an abstract expressionist visual artist, she works in drawing, painting, and photography, depending on the project. Her work has been shown at major events, including Art Basel–SCOPE Miami and The Mini Video Art Fest, Budapest, as well as at galleries in Budapest, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.  Her pieces are in private and public collections, including the Hungarian Multicultural Center in Budapest and the University of Minnesota Physicians Mill City Clinic Collection. Wren holds a master’s degree in public affairs, art, and human rights, with a focus on the role of art in peacemaking, as well as an MFA in studio art.
