Nice video on the landing page.

"We believe our new, 199-seat Second Space will assist us in our efforts. Diverse programming opportunities, including play readings, lectures, comedy shows, cabarets, dramas, film screenings, and community events will invite new audiences to experience our work (...) Our EDI initiatives are stronger and more focused than in previous years, and we are working hard to bring in new, diverse audiences.."

It will be great to see!

Great idea of a 'stretch play'

Thank you for the specific listing of local organizations receiving tickets, supplies, and other outreach.

Acknowledging the need to reconnect once regular patrons (snowbirds returning after COVID).

strong fiscal health even during covid

This is a really impressive producing organization. They've done a major expansion of the theater space, increasing the buildings footprint by 30,000 ft.² as part of a $40 million capital campaign supported by corporate, foundation and individual donors. The space looks really impressive and should nicely complement the mostly Broadway oriented productions mounted by this organization. I was glad to see some video excerpts (albeit buried within promotional videos) that indicate a high quality of performance taking place on their stages. The programming seems well-suited to the large number of "snowbirds" who make up a large percentage of the surrounding areas population. The mission statement is clear, as are the programming goals and objectives. I will note that the objectives are not really measurable as called for in the guidelines. The partnerships and collaborations are clearly defined, but mostly involve the provision of free or low-cost tickets to productions, and the organization would benefit from deepening some forms of mutually beneficial relationships. The partnerships described seem pretty one-sided. The organization does a good job of defining the audiences it serves, and suggests that new initiatives designed to promote theater in its programming to nontraditional audiences are underway. The idea of focusing on developing productions alongside diverse creative teams and actors is pretty exciting. The applicant does a good job of describing the impact of its programs and services on its community, and I particularly like the idea of holding "listening sessions" with cultural organizations outside the theater who do not normally attend their programming. They are beginning to understand the economic benefit of their theater expansion project, as well as the economic and community benefit of reopening their conservatory. There's an excellent description of their efforts to promote physical and programmatic accessibility to their programs, all top-of-the-line. It's great that they also include statements about how they have upgraded their facilities to accommodate actors, musicians, and other artists of all abilities. And there also accommodations for students and others who are economically challenged. The description of their marketing activities seems very professional, and the supporting material shows that they are doing excellent work in this area. The organization is in good financial shape, according to its 990, even as they acknowledge that they balanced their 20/21 budget with cash reserves. Significantly, they do say they plan to replenish cash reserves with planned surpluses.  And there is a $10 million endowment in place. They describe evaluation both internally and externally - although they might want to consider other methods of external evaluations beyond surveys, and look at ways to incorporate that information into the robust internal work done by the organization.
