Fisher Naomi - Score: 76.000

Quality of Offerings: 25

-Street art style murals that are of fair to good quality. The award winning Heron mural was solid.

-It was hard to tell what was by the artist, and what were murals they were documenting vs. producing.

-From my global travels and experiencing street art in spaces ranging from urban centers, museum shows about street art, and obscure locations with street art initiatives, I find the artwork fair to good, with a lot of potential.

Impact: 22 (adjusted to 25 after feedback during panel about self publishing)

-Application shows a lot of outreach and exchange with Ukraine which is timely and worthy of support.

-However there does not seem to be a lot of solid commitment for this project. The application seems to be in the research phase.

-Outreach is limited. One book launch and one workshop is not enough to push momentum in this age of digital media and book culture dwindling.

-Attachments show artwork, and desire for partnerships, but no confirmed partnerships in place.

-No confirmed publisher

-No active steps towards making and distributing a book at confirmed.

-No distribution channels beyond the book launch event.

Track Record: 26

-Has MBA degree.

-Female led business.

-Lauded by Kyiv mayor.

-5 state grant programs (but no specifics?)

-CV, reflects business experience and leading a cool urban art initiative.

-No traditional art world milestones, but this artist’s niche falls outside that.

-No support letters.

It's clear from the materials provided that the applicant is highly experienced and has been recognized as an effective facilitator of public art projects.

Their application could be strengthened with more detail regarding who they will work with who is experienced in the areas of publication production, publishing, promotion and distribution.

The impact described could also be strengthened if more specificity was provided. For example, in section 9, in the examples provided - it would be helpful if the artist was more specific - rather than saying "the estimate is based on similar events that attracted a diverse audience" what similar events? Given this is the first publication project the artist is carrying out, it would strengthen their app to more specific details that indicate how they are calculating the impact of this project.

It is helpful that the artist provided a writing sample. It could strengthen this app further if the applicant had more experience in writing and publishing. For example, publishing articles and / or creating pamphlets that a book would then expand on would help to demonstrate experience and assert a capacity for success in this area.

Would suggest to more specifically divide the artist/ writer fee, as these are two different roles. Additionally, a letter of support from the publisher would help to ensure the final outcome, and support the promotion of the book, and sale in bookstores. A book mock up or autogenerated stock of a potential cover could be helpful to envision the project for panelists.
