The Matheson gallery space includes permanent exhibits on the history of Alachua County and a continuous rotation of temporary exhibits that examine a variety of topics on local and Florida history. The temporary exhibitions attract visitors from outside Alachua County, Ambitious program schedule on such a small budget, realistic timeline . . Last year’s exhibitions covered topics such as the Florida Black Heritage Trail, the history of the citrus industry in Florida, and the history of medicine in Alachua County.Great community and regional, state, and federal partnerships allowing for a balanced exhibition schedule, Mid-century Modern Fl. architecture, desegregation, theatre programs, oral history projects, artist workshops. They are addressing physical plant and maintenance issues with success. Ambitious marketing plan given the limited dollars ($14K); challenged with evaluation as are most museums. Jump in administration costs reflect a reorganization of staffing priorities and a large gift of $1 million (not sure if this is endowment or to be spent down as restricted to the director's salary). Balanced and well developed budget. Support documents very helpful. Well written grant; easy to understand. |
