General note: the name "Patrons of Exceptional Artists" does not convey the fact that this is a festival. This makes the application's references to "the Festival" confusing. Later it is referenced as the Miami International Piano Festival; I'm not sure how the two are connected. This could have been made clear in the application. Goals, Objectives, Activities: This is good, detailed information. However, the activities consist of only programmatic information. I would like to have seen some more specific information relating to the other objectives and goals that were presented, like education opportunities for people of all ages, introducing artists to agents, etc. This part of the mission statement is not covered in the listed activities. (Also, side note: Almost all of the presented artists are men. I think it should be a future goal of the organization to actively seek more women pianists to support, as this current roster does not accurately reflect the demographics of the classical piano world.) Partnerships/Collaborations: the Summer Academy should have been covered in the Goals section, as this supports the organization's mission... The timeline is lacking almost any specific activities. Even if artists and venues have not been solidified, they should list a typical administrative/programmatic timeline. The information about ticket prices and disounts should be include in the Impact and/or Accessibility section. Impact: the career guidance portion of this program was not documented enough; I don't have a clear idea of how the organization helps young artists navigate the beginnings of their careers beyond giving them performance opportunities and recording them. The section where this information should have been found was solely focused on the Festival. Who is Brodsky? I assume she is the founder of the organization but I don't know that from the application. (She is mentioned in the Marketing section, but this is after she is first mentioned.) There is more information about the summer program in the Impact section that should have been included in the project description at the beginning of the application. |

Excellence: Longstanding program with high artistic ideals. Programming is strong. However, it is primarily directed to the development of young artists. there is no information about the application/audition process for the summer academy. Impact: Serving residents of Miami-Dade County and other Florida communities is not presented as a principal goal. Management: narrative states cutting budgets to bare bones because of a decline in contributed revenue, yet FY20 budget is a 20% increase over current FY. Budget shows few in-kind services, which might reduce expenses.
